Meadow Trail & Deer - Pine Trail - Eagle Creek Trail

There was a Pony Club Horse Show at the Showgrounds all weekend, so we went down to the park on the Highway 9 (west) side of Henry Cowell Park (and paid admission). We usually warm up with a ride on the Meadow Trail. It's all in bloom with sweet pea and vetch.

Just riding along, and all of a sudden, a deer popped out. Sorry this series of photos is so out of focus. Bella was moving around under me, the light was low and I was using the telephoto on my little digital camera.

And then a baby fawn popped out (from the bushes on the right) and joined her mother on the trail.

And then quite unexpectedly, a second baby fawn joined mom and sis on the trail

You can kind of make out mom foraging on the right side of the photo and one of the babies' ears just right of center in the bushes

Rode the River Trail to the Eagle Creek Trail up to the Rincon Trail up to the Ridge Trail. We were loping along and Bella spooked at this deer about 30 feet off the trail who didn't pay any attention at all to us.

Back to the Eagle Creek Trail

Bridge over Eagle Creek - this is such a vivid green and lush area - love this spot

More Eagle Creek Trail pictures. My favorite trail in this park. Lots of horses spook at this big split log and have a hard time with walking between the halves, but Bella doesn't look twice at it anymore.
