Caped Crusaders
From: Roy DeRousse [roylayer@yahoo.com] - April 12
I found this note on another e-mail list. I don't know if Rick (or Yes for that matter) will be featured, but I strongly suspect so due to the series' title! I also believe that non-UK residents can tune into the show view the internet, but I don't know the details on doing so.

Caped Crusaders - The Story of Progressive Rock
This is the first of a two part mini serial presented by journalist and broadcaster Stuart Maconie.
Maconie is an intelligent and amusing broadcaster who has a genuine love for both Progrock and Punk. This will not be a serious in depth study, but a light hearted look at the phenomenon we love in itsmusical and historical context. Make sure you listen it.

Halloween Show on PBS
Beginning in June the Yes Halloween 1999 show at the House of Blues in Las Vegas will begin to appear on various Public Broadcasting Stations. The show has been edited to one hour for these broadcasts, which may be tied to PBS pledge drives.

This is a recent BBC2 UK Radio profile featuring interviews with Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, Ian McDonald, Tony Banks, and others about Yes, Genesis, ELP, etc. http://www.indextheweb.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/mainstage.html
Not much new, and the host is very condescending, but it's worth a listen particularly for Wakeman's and Emerson's comments.
Note: 11 files are listed, but only 1-10 exist. The site also has live shows by Sting, Level 42, Prefab Sprout (to name some of my favorites), and others.

2) YES signing session in London, February 2000:
I'm delighted with the high level of gratitude for my postal newsletter & email bulletin announcing the YES signing session in London ~ about 1400 Yes Music Circle supporters club members + relatives & fans attended! Keep the comments coming, regarding meeting the Yes guys, & opinions of the show & CD releases. Relaunch of our magazines had to be delayed due to unexpected "invasive gynaecological treatment". Thanks, again, for your
patience. Naturally, it's essential to have a strong "hook" for the relaunch ~ something is in the pipeline…!
3) Apparently a follow-up CD is imminent from Steve Howe, titled Homebrew 2
4) Rick Wakeman is to be on BBC1 television's Through The Keyhole this Wednesday afternoon, 19 April at 2.10pm-2.40pm British Summer Time.
5) If you are amongst the people who picked up on my advocacy to tune-in to BBC Radio 2 (by net, if necessary), perhaps you heard the documentary, this past Saturday, 'Caped Crusaders - The Story of Progressive Rock' presented by 'Mojo' journalist Stuart Maconie. Rick Wakeman asserted himself for the admirable musical arrangement duties he performed with Yes during their heyday. Your feedback will be welcome.
Incidentally, Radio 2's long-term Yes-supportive presenter Alan "Fluff" Freeman has unfortunately had to drastically reduce his broadcasting commitments, due to a downturn in health that may be long term. Get well cards or letters can be sent to him via me.
6) ABWH participant Tony Levin recently recorded a couple of tracks for this autumn's new CD by Asia.
7) Merchandise stock clearance (Roger Dean items++) :
Only 1-2 CDs / videos of some items in the YMC merchandise list remain available for sale. All items are new, unused and officially released. There are many CDs, audio cassette tapes, videos (European PAL format), some rare singles & pictorial items. When this stock sells, no more will be purchased.
The full list is online at
Included are Roger Dean posters 'Freyja's Castle' (ABWH cover) and the promo poster used for 'Keys To Ascension II'. Also Roger's 1994 & 1995 calendars, the A3-size 'Relayer' print-on-card, and several A4-size prints-on-card.
Tizwin Hay
Well, it is true. Except it's Adam Wakeman I'm talking about. I've just come back from a Strawbs gig at King's Lynn. Adam was recruited at the last moment for this tour when Blue Weaver had to withdraw due to personal reasons. Blue Weaver played the first gig at The Turks Head in London with Adam at side stage with his own keyboard working out the keyboard parts. Typical Wakeman, hey!
But for anyone slightly interested in the Strawbs, try to see this tour because they are playing great, and have some tunes that haven't been played since the 70's. Great fun.
The German news channel n-tv will feature a 30min "Yes Story" tomorrow at 12:30 MESZ. For more details check out http://www.n-tv.de/cgi-bin/show_doc.cgi?doc_id=200864

It's on Purple Pyramid (Cleopatra) in the US, but Howe's website now says it won't be released until 6 Jun [snip] (The album should be out in Europe on A New Day Records, but I haven't got a copy myself yet.)
Thought this would be of some interest to all on this list. Here is a link to a picture and description of the new Rick Wakeman DVD; due out next month.
