Pics of the concert in St.Petersburg, Russia, 25 Nov 2001
From: Eugene Poliakov [esp@lanck.ru] - Dec. 3I posted 18 pics I took a week ago at Rick's (first ever) concert in my hometown. http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Theater/5775/wakeman/.
Please accept my apologies for a slow snapfish.com server where the larger (still 72 dpi) photos are actually placed. If you can offer a better connection, (or want to have a hardcopy) I'll send the images. Contact me privately.
Oh yes... about the show. It was excellent, of course, although the place was not the best acoustically (ice hockey arena). Instruments should be better balanced. However, I remarked this only on Rick's solo. I was concentrated so much on seeing that did not hear acoustical faults...
After the show... umm... how to put it... some (physical) contacts with security and I've got to shake Rick's hand (as well as Adam's and Tony's)... I had the time to thank Adam, to tell Tony I miss him on some programmed-drum albums...
A bunch of my favorite albums - African Bach (please save your criticism if you don't like it), NEC, Criminal, etc, - signed by Rick, Adam and Tony... And... well, that's enough to tell openly...
I feel like I'm still there...

Ray has already pointed out that President now have info on Classical Variations, even if no one else does yet.
Classic Rock Legends are now including Two Sides Of Yes in their magazine adverts (it was in Private Eye) but don't seem to give you any chance to buy it online at they claim. Amazon et al haven't spotted it yet.

This is an album which Lucia and I have anticipated for a long time, so we're excited about it. Rick's treatment of Pathetique on the Steinway to Heaven album is as good, if not better than other versions we have by accomplished classical pianists. The new version of Pathetique is twice as long as the Steinway version, we suspect it is the complete 2nd movement. This should be quite the album. It's a wonderful collection of pieces.
And, thanks to a prompt reply from President Records, here is more information. I had asked about releases and if it were played on a REAL piano, yada, yada, yada... and the following is the reply I received

The album will be released and available in the shops towards the end of January 2002. Meanwhile it is possible to purchase a copy in advance direct from us at only =A312.99 incl p&p. The music is played by Rick on a concert grand piano (like Preludes or Chronicles of Man, if you are familiar with those albums). The style is of course pure Rick Wakeman, so it is his interpretation of those great musical pieces. I think Rick's fans will certainly appreciate it.
