Bill Bruford

From: Dennio1@aol.com - Dec. 3

Hey Kids,
just thought some of you New England Freaks might be interested.... Bill Bruford, Tony Levin (Boston's own) and their Upper Extremities project will be at The House of Blues,in (the Peoples Republic of)Cambridge,Ma. on Sat. Dec.5...showtime 10:00 PM...the bar is open til 2... Tickets $20.

As many of us think that ever since Zork the Caveman started beating his tally-whacker on a hollow log, Bruford is the man. The end all...be all.

ASIA to reform

From: KMM77 - Dec 4

On the ELP board they had an excerpt from Rolling Stone with a Carl Palmer interview. Apparently, John Wetton and Geoff Downes are writing together and Carl is to join in on the sessions. I know on the ASIA website they mention that Steve Howe has discussed it and he did not dismiss the possibility of joining the ASIA reunion. BUT he mentioned that YES was to come first with the new material.

Yes in Goldmine again - sort of

From: Roy DeRousse (relayer@iname.com) Dec 5

Recent issues of Goldmine have included a subscription card that has the cover from the issue of Goldmine that featured Yes within the past year. It is pretty cool to have our favorite band in such a high profile position in every issue.

I did wonder a bit why they would use a Yes cover, though. Wouldn't a Beatles cover (or whatever) attract more people? But then the obvious struck me. The word "Yes" is in big bold letters, taking up almost one fourth of the cover! What better cover could the Marketing people want than one that screams, "Yes, sign me up for a subscription!"

Sorry for this fluff post, but I thought it was rather humorous.

Yes: Live In Philadelphia (DVD)

ID5501CADVD $19.99 Rated: NR
IED:Image DVD 1979 51 min.
UPC#014381550122 Pop & Rock
Prebook: 12/22/98 Street Date: 02/16/99
Features: PCM/REG0

"Yes:Live in Philadelphia" clearly illustrates the power of Yes as this program vividly chronicles the band's middle era. This powerful concert shows the fragile balance of individual personality, visionary writing, telepathic interaction and brilliant instrumentation that define the timeless music of Yes. English:PCM Stereo.

Frog and Peach in SLO

From: Elinor Bostock (elinor@sunfighter.demon.co.uk) - Dec 14 I bought a copy of The Promise Ring the other day and discovered that the musicians on it played at the Frog and Peach pub in SLO. (snip)

I did a search on the Web for Frog and Peach and came up with a site by a lady called Diana Demille featuring some of the musicians who perform at the pub and it includes a sketch she did of Jon. I thought you might be interested.

Jon (not John) Anderson - Country Western Star?

From: Roy DeRousse Dec 21

Just received the latest issue from Opio. The Dagues (presumably) wrote this in their Intro column:

"On this one subject, Jon has been tight lipped, but speculation suggests he is exploiting his talents in yet another sector of a popular musical genre, ponder on it for yourself, he's been spending time at a good ol' southern US of A based recording studio. [sic on the punctuation]

"Jon does tell us that 'Millennium Child' should be released next summer and to expect another Jon Anderson solo project to be ready soon!"

http://idols.simplenet.com/music3.html

For those with AOL anyway, below is a "hyperlink" that will take you to what is called " Glen's Themes" ( or something like that ). Sandra found the site doing a web search, and I later found it via way of Yesworld ( which explains why I don't have just a web address).

Anyway, on the site you can download desktop themes for "Close To The Edge ", and my favorite Yes album, "Relayer". I'll add to this is a next post.

YesWorld: The Yes Online Service

Here's another "link", and web address while one can find YES desktop programs. Just go to the bottom of the page, find Yes, and press download. This page has two to pick from...how cool!

Yescamp 98

From: "Lou Lambruschi" - Dec 29

Yescamp 98 was a gathering of Yes fans, mostly from NC and SC, that was held 5 miles inside of Francis Marion National Forest near Charleston SC. The whole thing was organized by Tim and Sport, who some of you may have seen at Yestival, helping with the video and effects. I drove down from Charlotte with a friend, my 2 boys, and our dog Ginger. Following Tim's directions, we followed a succession of gravel roads into the forest. The site was in the middle of nowhere! We got there early to help with the setting up and wiring. There was a stage set up, and fabric and banners surrounded the area to create a "room" in the woods. We had two generators to power the lights and PA system. So far from civilization, there was no need to keep the noise down! There were candles and torches, lots of incense, and even a chandelier hanging from a tree. Off in the distance was an area where most of us set up tents, cooked our dinners, and had a fire going all night. By dusk, people started arriving - probably about 40-50 eventually came. It was a night of Yes music and conversation, with plenty of food and beer, etc, and no worry of driving home. There was a band that played, called Farpoint. They covered a few Yes songs, then played some of their own. Also being played through the sound system were CD's and tapes which people had brought. Though we had prepared for cold weather, it hovered around 50 degrees all night, and the rain held off until about 2:30 AM. Good excuse to turn in! Aside from the howling at the moon during the wee hours, it was a great time. We are hoping to do it again next year - I will spread the word when I hear something. If anyone wants to see pictures, check out my site at: http://web.cetlink.net/~loulamb/yescamp.htm

Be sure to sign my guest book!

I look forward to chatting some more - check out my Yes page at: http://web.cetlink.net/~loulamb/musicyes.htm
