This is a story about our trip to England to see five Marillion concerts and visit long-time Yes friends

Friday, October 30 - San Francisco to London

Flew uneventfully overnight to London. While I was on the plane, Marillion played a warm-up gig in Reading

Saturday, October 31 - London

Played tourist the first day
in London and saw
Westminster Abbey

It was pouring rain and we weren't able to take too many photos. Also, photos are not allowed inside the building, so this view is from a postcard that we got in the gift shop.

The other touristy thing we saw was
St. Paul's Cathedral.
These are both postcards.
It was simply a beautiful, ornate and
incredible building.

November 1 - London to Manchester

On Sunday morning, we all met up at the Hertz car rental place in Marble Arch, London and got a mini van. Here we are in the dark underground garage trying to figure out how fit all our luggage in.

Less than four hours later, we were in Manchester. Though London was sunny, as we drove north, storm clouds awaited us. As we approached Manchester, we saw several rainbows.

Before dinner, we scouted out the venue-the Manchester Academy. This kiosk was outside the student union building next to the theatre. Marillion's advertisement is the 2nd one down on the left.

After dinner, I was surprised with a visit from my friends Sarah and Pete and their son Adam who live locally. We had a nice chat in the hotel's pub while a storm raged outside.

And here's the main attraction: Steve Hogarth of Marillion. For Manchester concert details and reviews, click here.

These photos were taken without a flash using a cheapo Funsaver camera during the encore.

Monday, November 2 - Manchester to Nottingham

Started off in Manchester in the rain. Leaving the Grafton Hotel. Going to Nottingham. Checking into the Castle Rock Guest Hotel. Showering in the bath down the hall - my hair dryer burned out. Tami and Suz go to the venue to see Mark. Carole, Kim and I go to the Old Jerusalem Inn for lunch and tea. We tour Nottingham Castle.
