Okay...probably no surprise to anyone here. But I saw Armageddon last evening! After Christie told me that it was airing where she is at midnight on the 30th/1st, I actually checked it out here...but no luck. THe only theater that was showing it at midnight was one in downtown D.C....which I wasn't about to attempt at midnight.
I had a hair appt. in the afternoon...and was going to stop on the way home....but Niki also wanted badly to go. So anyway, we headed off to the 7 PM show......which was absolutely packed!!!!!
While a lot of movies don't seem to live up to their media-hype, I honesltly thought that this one DID! A bit of everything....action and a love story...tears and chuckles. Great casting...and lots of "edge of your seat" moments. And there are some moments in movies when the audience applaudes....but I've never heard it done as MANY times during a movie as in Armageddon.
The music was wonderful........especially when Trev's theme is playing during shuttle takeoff......it was a moment that you honestly wanted to stand up and salute! LOL!!!!
Lots of orchestration...lots of choir...very grandious sounding!
As with ConAir....I really feel, though, like I need to see the movie again really soon to be able to focus more on the music and less on the story-line of the movie.
I definitely heard enough that I KNOW this would make a fabulous score CD!!!! Let's just hope that they decide to do this. This music is just too good to NOT put on CD!!!!!
here's another addition to Yumbiosis' sound library:
3.00 minutes of the brill anthem, for those who haven't seen the movie, or won't buy the album, but rather the score album.
UP NEXT: Free Willy 3 - Cliff Eidelman's worthy successor to Basil Poledouris.
enjoy,
Chris Caine =:)
Did anyone else notice Trevor's theme to Armageddon being played during a Mark McGwire interview during last night's baseball All Star Game preshow? They were showing monster home runs of Marks with Trevors theme playing in the background, nice effect. If I remember correctly NBC also used part of the theme elsewhere in the telecast, just don't remember where.

Up next on Trevor's agenda is the movie Frost...coming out sometime around the holidays, and starring Michael Keaton.
From the Los Angeles Times (Calendar), July 27, 1998:
"Michael Keaton, rocker? That was the challenge for Trevor Rabin, the former Yes member who had the job of helping the actor do a convincing job as leader of a struggling band for the upcoming movie, 'Frost.' But Rabin, who had just [scored] 'Armageddon,' says the gig was surprisingly easy.
'Michael has been great,' Rabin says. 'He responded to the task as far as being a rock 'n' roll singer. It can be so cheesy in movies and the last thing we wanted was the Partridge Family.'
Among the methods Rabin employed was to have Keaton write his own lyrics to some of the songs. Rabin then assembled a band to perform the material and appear in the film, a story about the Jack Frsot character in a contemporary setting.
'Originally they had us set to rehearse in of those plush facilities that a successful band like Yes would be in,' Rabin says. 'But this was supposed to be about a band not being successful, so I found one of the urine-infested places beneath the Santa Monica Freeway, instead. Michael looked at me like I was crazy, but I said this is what it would really be, and he said 'Great.' He was so focused onto getting in character.'"
