Yes are similarly touring the U.S. & Canada (starting July 22nd) with 32 dates arranged so far + 2 in Mexico, currently ending on Oct. 10th. Yes are now mixing tracks for their next album, also to feature an orchestra, arranged and conducted by television & motion picture composer Larry Groupé ("The Contender"). Tim Wiedner assisted them with production duties.

Beyond And Before - The Formative Years Of Yes
From: Gbrown8287@aol.com - June 12

Hey Gang, Billy James just sent me this about Peter Banks up and coming book:

"the book will also be available in a limited signed Hardbound with rare CD of an unreleased 15 minute demo of Small Beginnings - you can mention that info to your friends."

And you all are my friends. I'm getting one. I wonder how limited? No matter, I already know it will be a collectors item. The first edition of the book that Billy did with Michael Bruce has been seen on E-Bay several times...and going for the big bucks also. I'll post the info as I get it....no worries....the gang here at Yestalk get first grabs.

The Official Peter Banks Mailing List: We're working on it. Idea's about the website are bouncing back and forth. I think I figured out what our first newsletter will be about. Before you know it.....we're have all our stuff together and ready to launch. That being the case.....I think we're ready to take subscribers. Remember....at first you'll get nothing...we're not ready yet...but when we are....you'll be the first ones signed up....so you won't miss anything.

If interested ( I hope you are ), please send a blank e-mail to:

Trevor Rabin - The 6th Day DVD
From: Gbrown8287@aol.com - June 16

Hey Gang, Since I miss a lot of posts, I'm not sure if this was mentioned before.

I picked up the DVD for the film The 6Th Day. Main reason being that part of the special features is audio commentary by composer Trevor Rabin.

I'm kind of new to this DVD stuff, and was not one hundred percent sure what to expect. I put it on...go to special features...and first on the list....Trevor. Do I want to hear Trevor Rabin with isolated music score? Of course I do. That's why I got it. I pressed "yes" .....and the movie starts playing. Sandra's hanging out with me, and tells me she don't have time to watch the whole movie "again". "Have a good time", and she leaves the room. I hear the score, and then Trevor comes on and introduces himself. From there, the movie is playing, but all you hear is the score and Trevor's comments. No special effects....no dialogue....just Trevor commenting on how what the pieces of music were, how they came about......it's really interesting. He talks throughout the whole film. He also tells the story on how he got into scoring films, and mentions Yes a few times. He said he was sick of playing O.O.A.L.H. after like the 600th time, and wanted to do something different.

For Trevor fans....a real must have. When I first started looking around for this, I saw prices at around twenty-eight to almost thirty dollars range. Keep looking. At Best Buy I got it for the low twenty's, including tax.

Asia and the Flood
From: [GBrown8287@aol.com] - June 24

Hi All, Here's an interesting story. As some of you know I was going to see Asia play, but due to the flooding it didn't happen:

June 22, 2001, 8:19PM

British rockers reach out to flood victims
By Michael D. Clark
Copyright 2001 Houston Chronicle

Some rock artists hear about a charity or tragedy, sense the pain and get out their checkbook to throw money at the cause.

A few others take it more to heart. For progressive British rockers Asia, the effects of Tropical Storm Allison have become personal.

Taking a break from their regular tour schedule, the members of Asia are flying to Houston on their own dime to perform a brief benefit concert, July 3 at Garden in the Heights.

Performing a set of acoustic songs during the venue's weekly KQQK, 106.5 FM-sponsored Tejano festival, Tu Musica En La Plaza, the English supergroup will try to sing Ready To Go Home from its new album Aura in Spanish. It's the first time in the band's history it has attempted a song in another language. The group asked that all proceeds be donated to flood victims in Houston's Hispanic communities through Associated Catholic Charities. Asia will donate an autographed Fender guitar and other items for a benefit auction.

"This incredibly white band from England is flying in and flying out with their own money to help out Spanish flood victims," says Garden in the Heights manager Bob Fuldauer. "This isn't even one of their strongest (radio markets). It's just pure benevolence on their part."

Asia was on its way to Houston June 8 for the first 106.9 FM Point Fest 2001 set for June 9 at Eleanor Tinsley Park. The supergroup, featuring guitarist Steve Howe and keyboardist Geoff Downes, had radio success in the early '80s with hits Heat of the Moment and Only Time Will Tell. It was scheduled to headline the nostalgic rock concert that also featured Berlin, the
Fixx, the Outfield and A Flock of Seagulls.

By 6 p.m. the night before the show, Point Fest organizers had called off the concert citing the weather. By Saturday morning Houston was a mess of flooded homes, stranded cars littering city streets, and wet bodies. More than 20 people died in flood-related tragedies.

Asia had not made it to Houston before the rains started. That didn't mean the flood didn't affect the band. Lead singer John Payne is a former Houston resident and was receiving accounts of the storm from friends. As the band was getting ready to take the stage at its following date in Dallas, band publicist Stacia Pratt was in a panic.

"My husband and (7-month-old) baby were here and I was having trouble getting through to them," says Pratt, who recently relocated to Houston from New York City. "I was going crazy backstage and when we got to Dallas and turned on the TV, the guys couldn't believe it."

The Garden in the Heights show, at 3926 Feagan, will have free admission. Food and beverage revenues will be donated to Associated Catholic Charities. For more information, call 713-880-1065.

This is only the first of Asia's two concerts in Houston in July. The rescheduled Point Fest will be noon-8 p.m. July 9 with all the original bands participating. Tickets are $20. For more information, call 713-864-1100 or log on to www.pointfest.com.

Garden in the Heights is not the only local venue with flood-relief concerts planned. The following is a list of benefit concerts taking place this weekend:

· The Houston Christian Musician's Flood Relief Concert takes place from 1-6 p.m. today at the Woodland's Wal-Mart parking lot, 610 Sawdust Road (Interstate 45 at Rayford-Sawdust). Participating bands include HandPicked, One Spirit, Freed, the Brandon Stanley Band and Driven.

Admission is free but donations will benefit the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

· Latin music fans can take part in the Tejano for Texas benefit concert, noon-10 p.m. Sunday at Hallabaloos Nightclub, 716 1/2 Old Galveston Road. Co-sponsored by KQQK, 106.5 FM and La Nueva, 107.9 FM, headliners include Jody Farias, Ruben Ramos, Solido.

Also featured on the two stages are Jary Hobbs, Jimmy Gonzales Y Su Grupo Macc, Jennifer Pena, Los Magnificos, Texas Latino, La Traicion, Lisa Aventura, Grupo Calor, Margarita, Fama, Masizzo and Grupo Fieo. Tickets are $7. Proceeds go to the Associated Catholic Charities flood relief fund. Call 713-943-1400.

· Houston's alternative country community gets into the act with a KIKK (95.7 FM) concert featuring Honeybrowne, Cory Morrow and others, beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Firehouse Saloon, 5930 Southwest Freeway.

The Texas Flood Benefit also features sets with Ezra Charles, Gene Kelton, Bart Alan Woytek, Carl Manchaca and Kristin Lyons and the Guzzlers. An early evening all-star acoustic jam featuring Morrow, Owen Temple, Roger Creager, Sister Morales and more leads into the night's final set by Honeybrowne.

Tickets are $10. All door proceeds, and 25 cents of the price of every beer sold, benefit the Salvation Army and local S.P.C.A. For more information, call 713-977-1962. The end.
