Rick on Radio 4 Journey live in the Netherlands! Return to the Center in Argentina B.C. Rock Buried Alive by OZZY + RICK |

Just a quick note, I'm not sure if it will be read in time.
I understand that Rick will be on Radio 4's "Front Row" program this evening at 7.15.
I heard that he will be explaining why he is releasing a 1970's style concept album in the 1990's!
*******************************
From Steve Sweet - March 2
Sorry I posted this so late: I heard it announced on the radio about an hour before it was broadcast. The interview didn't tell us much that we didn't already know, but they played three short clips from RTTCOTE, these were about 10 seconds each. The orchestra, choir and Patrick Stewart's narration makes a gorgeous sound. Gosh, I can't wait!

Well maybe the subject of this mail promises a bit too
much, but still.. Last Friday I went to see a show by the orchestra of the Royal Dutch Air Force. They're doing a program called Symfo 1999 and the opener is nothing else but the overture
to Journey! It's only 5 minutes or so, but it was still great to hear a bit of Journey live by a large orchestra! Especially here in the Netherlands where I thought people had since long forgotten about Rick and his music (also taking into account the turnup at hist last gig here). The rest of the program of Symfo 1999 includes tracks by Queen, The Who, Alan Parsons Project, ELO, ELP, Yes (Leave it), Procol Harum, Moody Blues, Camel, Earth & Fire, Focus, Lucifer, Elton John and more. If you're living in the Netherlands or Belgium or nearby I can heartily recommend to go and see it. A list of dates can be found on

The show is on the net all week as of Sunday

I recently bought a video tape that contains some very RARE music by Rick. The video is "B.C. Rock" from 1984. It's a rated R animated film, which is thoroughly adult in content and disgusting to say the least! However, the music selection is interesting, with contributions from Genesis (nothing rare) as well as Leo Sayer, Rick Derringer and others. Rick's contribution is the greatest. Here are the song titles and the credits information:
Flyin
Performed and written by
Rick Wakeman & Anna Pepper
Steamhole Dance
War Mongers
Performed and written by
Rick Wakeman
All 3 tracks produced by
Alan Brewer & Rick Wakeman
I mentioned this to Rick earlier this week. He said that these tunes have never been issued on any LP or CD, and that he doesn't have a copy himself nor has he ever seen a finished cut of the whole film! I told him not to bother ; ) The songs are very rock oriented, much like what he was doing during the early 80's. Rick said he was working on this soundtrack at the time that he did "G'ole".
By the way, I got the video on eBay and it cost me $81.00 !!!! D: 0

Time for the troops to mobilize !!!!!!
Buried Alive on Rick Wakeman's Return To The Centre Of The Earth, which Ozzy Osbourne sings lead vocals on is one of the best rock n roll tunes I've heard in a long while! Imagine Ozzy singing in front of a full symphony orchestra while all of the players in the orchestra are jamming like a heavy metal band! This song has **HIT** written all over it! When will we EVER get to hear Ozzy in front of an orchestra again?! Sadly record company politics seem to be rearing its ugly head and may prohibit this from becoming the monster hit that it can become. I believe this could be a number one for Ozzy and Rick!!!
The problem is that the Wakeman CD is being released on EMI internationally, while Ozzy is contracted to Sony. Ozzy's company may not agree for a single to be issued while Ozzy is fully behind the idea of a single. There should also be a video.
The American release date for the Wakeman CD is Tuesday April 21, while the UK date is even sooner on March 15.
Here's what we can do: E-mail the hell out of Sony or even call them up and request that they give their permission for this song to be released as a single and allow for the full treatment, including a video, that this is what "You the Fan" wants. Give Ozzy his freedom to artistically express himself with his musical mate of many years, Rick Wakeman. This song can be a number one hit if only they agree to a single and a video.
