YES to appear at YESCAPADE!
From: believer@telepath.com - May 1, 2001

OFFICIAL NOTICE FROM YESCAPADE ORGANIZER ROBERT ZORICH:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Some or all of the members of YES will be joining us at Yescapade 2001 !!!! YES and band management have been aware of our plans for some time and sound excited about meeting with their fans.
We are anticipating that there will be a question and answer session or a "meet and greet", but the exact details have not been finalized at this time.
"Members of YES are enthusiastic about attending Yescapade. However, in the event of unexpected extenuating circumstances, such as illness, we cannot guarantee that all band members will be able to attend. Please understand that events can occur over which we have no control, and allowances must be made for this remote possibility." "
Larry Groupe Interview
From: Brian Jones [siz1@earthlink.net] - May 2
Henry [Potts] has a link to a recent interview with Larry Groupe, our conductor. There is a spoiler in that he says the probable material being performed will be the "classic" YES stuff maybe with a couple of new songs. The only song named is not really a spoiler at all. http://www.sdreader.com/ed/calendar/blurt/
He also mentions the interview with Jon on NFTE. You all probably already knew that was there, but they can't seem to keep me on the subscriptions list -- the last one I received by email was #239. http://nfte.org/interviews/JA_TM_interview.html
Steve Howe's "Natural Timbre"
From: Brian Jones [siz1@earthlink.net] May 2
Okay, I'm really sorry to be burning up all the bandwidth here, but I get excited when YES stuff is happening!
Just found new MP3s that are samples of Steve Howe's new album "Natural Timbre" Only problem is they seem to have been uploaded as text files, so I sent MT an email about it: http://stevehowe.com/timbre.html
I just recently found that Steve had been right here in Denver working on the album just before joining the rest of them in California. I've got to find a way to meet Shooz! I never once saw that Mercedes driving around town!
Keys to the Studio
From: Brian Neeson [yescelt@aol.com] - May 3
I note that the above Album is to be released in UK only. It's out here on May 21st. If anyone would like me to get them a copy please let me know.
According to Yesworld it is only being released in UK. The "NEW" cover which uses the Classic Logo, is shown on the News page @ Yesworld. It also gives the track list, and there is no "Axis" there.
Album and Tour News
From: [yann64@yahoo.com] - May 7
The album will be new material, reportedly a one-hour piece divided into twelve sections. The basic tracks by the four band members have already been recorded and they're currently working with Larry Groupé on the orchestral and keyboards parts which should be recorded this month. Release of the album is tentatively scheduled for September.
Re : setlist.
Nothing official so far, though Groupé strongly hinted that "Roundabout" will be played ;-) Surprise!!!!
Other than this, Howe has made public that he wants "Awaken" on the setlist. Squire is reportedly lobbying for an orchestral version of "Heart of the sunrise". There is little doubt that Jon will push forward at least "Time and a word" and possibly "Hearts". Strong rumors (though not substantiated on the band's side) also indicate "South side of the sky" and "And you and I".
Howe also said in the past that he wanted to play "Homeworld" on the MW tour and "Mind drive" on both the OYE and MW tours. IMO, "Homeworld" can be ruled out for this year, but "Mind drive" remains a possibility.
But, as always with Yes, we will know nothing for sure until the opening gig. And even then, surprises might still occur (remember "South side of the sky" last year ?)
Rick - Quebec tix on Sale
From: Brian Neeson [yescelt@aol.com] - May 8
RETURN TO THE CENTRE OF QUEBEC
It's a part of something called International de l'art vocal. Henry has a link to the poster: http://www.artvocal.com/wakeman/wakeman.htm And here is the main web page (in French) http://www.artvocal.com/accueil/accueil.htm.
Tickets are on sale now for $43 USD - best seats. Seat map: http://www.artvocal.com/accueil/planparterre.htm .
The 800 number on the poster is not yet working, but I called the other number and they eventually transferred me to an English speaker and I was told the website will be up in English in a couple of days so I'm guessing that is when the 800 number will be working also. That may mean we get the jump on the crowd if we buy now!
The theatre is located in Trois Rivéres. A city between Quebec and Montreal. I mention this not only for geographical reference, but also because there is a little jazz festival that I believe happens at the same time of year. That'll make it tough for Dave or I to do the standby gig, but maybe I'm wrong on that.
BTW, Wakey's page says the "Chronicles" video is about to be released on DVD. They say it will be PAL only.
Per "Digiboy"
album due in about 40 days, will have 10 tracks (which I assume means a long suite in 10 parts.) Scroll down to digiboy's post: http://duc.digidesign.com/ubb/Forum16/HTML/007707-2.html
Ticket Swap at Yescapade Site
From: Bob [relayer2001@yahoo.com] - May 13
We have set up a ticket swap hub at the Yescapade site. Anyone wishing to find tickets for any show or who has tickets to spare for any show can go to the swap hub at Yescapade and tell the world about what they need to do.
We are also in the process of setting a general pre-show party hub, so you can use the Yescapade site to tell everyone about any pre-show parties you are having. Just drop me a line and we'll get you set up.
And of course as Tim L said, Yesfans.com has graciously accepted becoming the "official" Yescapade chat line so anyone and everyone can discuss anything Yescapade related. We also have a comments page at the Yescapade site, but it's not really interactive, more of a buletin board.
And of course, we finally have Yes' approval to tell you that they are planning to attend!!
Hope to see you all at Yescapade 2001.
Peace!
Keystudio
From: [brian_neeson@solectron.co.uk] - May 18
My Keystudio CD arrived today.
I played CoL on the way back to work. I think "Lightning" was omitted from the original release for a very good reason. I don't see what it contributes favourably to the song at all. The mix seems a little different to me also. There is very pronounced "hi-hat skimming" throughout the track, which I had not noticed on the original release. A nice cover - the pics are Studio shots - instead of the SLO pics from the original Keys albums. No sign of the Steve Howe interview which I think Gary mentions in his Artist Shop newsletter.
Patrick Moraz Interview COMPLETE
From: Roy DeRousse [roylayer@yahoo.com] - May 18
A nice interview with Patrick Moraz has just been posted on the Web. Here is the announcement that was on rec.music.progressive:
--------
From: contacts@eufonia.net (Jesus Diaz)
Hello Folks,
A few months back, we posted the first part of an interview done by our radio show (EufOnia) to Mr. Moraz. We have now finished the whole thing. All you have to do is visit our website www.eufonia.net and click on Patrick's picture.
It is a very interesting interview. Read about Patrick's past, his influences, the reissue of his early albums, his time with Yes, the Napster Issue and most important, his newest work "Resonance".
Enjoy!
Yes on L.A. Radio
From: wil overton [wil.overton@dial.pipex.com] - May 22
Apologies if this has been discussed but I've just got back to the UK from a convention in Los Angeles where I had on a local radio station first thing in the morning. I think it was called Aero 93.something. It was a classic rock station and had Yes as the band of the day on Thursday last week. The DJ said the boys were in the studio but I had to leave before they came on. Did anyone hear this interview? Did they let on anything about the new album?
New keysman: Tom Brislin
From: Henry Potts [h.potts@ucl.ac.uk] - May 23
I posted this to Usenet two days ago, but news propagation to here seems kinda slow! It looks like Yes's keyboard player for the Yessymphonic tour is going to be Tom Brislin. Brislin currently plays in his own band You Were Spiraling and in Meatloaf's backing band, The Neverland Express. I've various details and links at http://www.bondegezou.demon.co.uk/wnyesm.htm#kiy and http://www.bondegezou.demon.co.uk/wnoth.htm#brislin.
Ciao, Henry
