Well, I had to laugh when I saw YES on the list of 100 greatest hard rock bands. But what was even funnier was the three songs that they played in the background, during the tribute. Can you guess what they were? All together now: ROUNDABOUT, OWNER OF A LONELY HEART, and I'VE SEEN ALL GOOD PEOPLE!!

WOOOOO!!!!!

Just arrived from the British Rock Symphony Rehearsals. I'm stunned, absolutely stunned. I felt like in a private concert (the audience was of about 10 people). Jon is singing like an angel (songs listed below, careful: spoiler!) and I got the chance of talking to him (never had it before). He was SO nice and gentle, we only discussed amenities (specially Cachaca, a tradicional brasilian drink. I gave a bottle of it to Jon) and I wasn't brave enough to ask for autographs and pictures, since he was busy and preparing to began the singing. Tomorrow is the official concert. Let's see how it goes!!! Jon sang:

Long Distance Runaround
State of Independence (Change We Must version)
Owner of a Lonely Heart (he changed the lyrics completely in the ending section)
Roundabout (they stopped it two times, but I couldn't figured out why)

Yesterday, I finally saw the British Rock Symphony concert. Overall, it was a very pleasant concert. Completely different from the programme listed in their homepage, though.

Strangely enough, not Jon, not Alice Cooper, not Parsons neither Tony Hadley were the stars of the show.

The guy who sang most of the songs and were on stage for more than 90% of the concert was a total stranger to me, a guy named Tony Mitchell. Great singer and very charismatic.

Jon was wearing a cream (darker white) blazer, pants, sandals (with socks) and a flowered shirt. He sang the songs listed in the spoiler e-mail I sent yesterday, plus the With A Little Help Of My Friends encore, together with all the guests.

It was fun to see him and Alice Cooper jumping into and around the stage giving hands, and then singing together (I mean, with hands on shoulders). During this part, Alice pushed Jon, which almost make him fell down. Alice giggled a lot, and I guess Jon laughed a bit too. I'll write a more detailed review ASAP and I'll see if I can post the pictures.

Jon in Wall Street Journal
From: BoSease - Nov. 20

Scott brought home part of Friday's Wall Street Journal (the Marketplace section) for me last night to read an article that mentions Jon. Anyway, this in an article called "Can Video Games Make Music Stars".

<< Jon Anderson, the 56-year-old lead singer of the art-rock group Yes, says the lead track from the group's latest album now plays over the credits of Homeworld, a space-fighter game produced by Sierra On-Line Inc. of Seattle. The band even named its tune after the game. Yes, which put out its first album in 1968, barely gets any radio play these days and rarely appears on MTV. Homeworld allows it to reach beyond its core baby-boomer following to the Gen X and Gen Y crowds who grew up on video games, Mr. Anderson says.
But Yes's first game project didn't go smoothly. Mr. Anderson says it took him more than a year to get his managers to sign any deal with a video-game company. It also took twice as long as expected for Sierra to iron out a contract to obtain licensing rights because of complicated licensing rules.
Sierra understood that it needed a master license from Yes's record company to include the group's song on its game. But it didn't realize that it also needed a license from the music publisher to distribute the game containing the song. Because each of the six band members contiributed to the son's lyrics and composition, Sierra had to contend with three different music publishers representing various band members. "We didn't realize it was Pandora's box," Jim Veevaert, Sierr'a vice president of marketing, recalls. >>

Anyway, that's it about Jon, though the article continues mentioning other bands. What's kind cool is that Scott only occassionally buys the WSJ...and one of the few times he does, it has a Jon mention. LOL!

Kathy's art on the YESnet!
From: ayesmama@aol.com - Nov. 27

Hi Everyone,

I am happy to say that Alan's new website is finally up and if you go to the 'gallery' page, you will see a print that Kathy did for Alan about a couple of years ago.

She had done this print for fun and then we decided to give a copy of the print to Alan. We sent it backstage with a friend after one of the LA shows during the Ladder tour. All Kathy and I wrote on the back was "ayesmama@aol.com".

About a month later, I got an email from Alan's webmaster saying that Alan really wanted this print on his website. We were both really happy to hear about that and of course, gave him the ok.

Somehowe, my name got mixed in with this (well, I was the person corresponding and many of Kathy's art pieces are created from my ideas and this piece WAS partly my idea...) - so she had no protest when both our names were listed.

Anyway, it is a good feeling - I wanted to share it with you all....let me know what you think!
