Alan White on the radio 10/3

From: Roy DeRousse [roylayer@yahoo.com] - Oct 3

On Wednesday October 3, Alan appeared on Bob Rivers' Twisted Tunes on KZOK in Seattle: http://www.twistedradio.com/

Click on "Alan White of Yes" and "Alan White pt 2." Supposedly, he played "Don't Go." I'm still listening to it but haven't heard it yet. Pretty cool interview though.

It appears that they change the front page daily. Click on "Archive" and then go page by page until you find the listings for September 3. (Their "Search" feature doesn't seem to work for me.) That's where you'll find both parts to Alan's interview.

NYFD & Close to the Edge - "We Agree" Tribute Download

From: Coltrain210@aol.com - Oct 11

NY's Ladder Company #84 and its rig "Close to the Edge" assisted in the Sept. 11 rescue operation at ground zero following the tragedy in NYC. As a special tribute to all of the heroes in the aftermath of Sept. 11 and the members of Ladder Company #84 who were lost that day, Yes is making a download of "We Agree", a new track from their forthcoming Magnification album, available to those who make a donation to the American Red Cross. [Go to www.yesworld.com and click on 'News Archive.'] This is being done on the 'honor' system--please help yourself to the download, but please make a donation if you're doing so. If you can't afford to make a donation, please give blood. Yes honors the bravery of those who assisted in the recovery and shares with its fans and the world in mourning those who were lost. For these heroes "these are the days that we will talk about."

YES! Perpetual Change

From: Harry Garland [harry.garland@virgin.net] - Oct 19

Hi folks, I have just received from Amazon.co.uk.... 'YES! Perpetual Change - Thirty Years of Yes' by David Watkinson. (ordered a year ago)............. At first glance it looks excellent (well worth waiting for), tons of information about the group, their concerts, set lists, bootlegs etc........... Everything seems to be there, I would probably say it's the best YES book by far. It even brings back memories of the old (and best) 'SOUNDS' music paper due to cuttings from it and other music papers. Also brings back memories of concerts at 'Greens Playhouse' then became the 'Apollo' and the 'Kelvin Hall' all Glasgow venues......... Look forward to really getting into this book. Cheers, Harry G

From: Rhea Frankel [rheayes@yahoo.com] - Oct. 26

The new Jon website is up at http://www.jonanderson.com. He has a section where he answers questions from fans. Here's one that I wrote and Jon responded to: http://www.jonanderson.com/ask.html

Q: What goes through your mind when fans tell you that they go to multiple shows during a tour, or when you see familiar faces (or banners) at several concerts in a row? Why do you think some fans see the need to do this for your concerts? - Rhea Frankel, St. Louis, MO, USA

A: It's a very good feeling, it's a very gratifying feeling that people will travel to come and see the show and put up banners. And you feel that you're part of their life, and they're part of my life when I'm on stage. There are certain people I've known, I wave to them, and I've seen them for up to twenty-five years. And there are few people that you get used to seeing - and it's always great to see. Not that we know each other that well, but it's just a fun thing. An extended Yes family.

Faulty HOB DVD's

From: Mike Bentley [ccfa@brisbane.qld.gov.au] - Oct 26

Hi everone Just a quick note to let you all know that I have been able to get my faulty HOB DVD's replaced by Beyond Music. I sent them off about 5 weeks ago to the Production Manager at Beyond and 2 new shiny DVD's arrived in the mail earlier this week. Both play very well which is fantastic. Very special thanks to Dave Westbay who was able to identify the person at Beyond who could do something about this problem. Brickbats to CD Now who refused to accept any responsibility for selling faulty DVD's or even suggesting how to go about getting replacements. For those still wondering who to send problem discs to this is the guy.......

Yes: Perpetual Change

From: Jeff Manning [tallowcross@hotmail.com] Oct. 31

OK - I got my copy of the new Yes book: Yes, Perpetual Change today from Amazon UK. It's not released in the USofA yet, so you have to order it from across the pond. I've been looking at it for about two hours now and all I can say is - WOW.

Wow and wow.

This is definately the best book on Yes to date. It's about 196 pages, large-size paperback, all glossy pages, lots of photos, some color photos inthe middle.... The first 88 pages is a rather interesting band history. Interetsingly, Wakeman writes the forward, and he doesn't like the Dan Hedges book (considered by many to be the best Yes book). He likes this one better.

I must say there are LOTS of great anecdotes, and tons of info you probably didn't know. Like, when Bruford quit the band in 1968 he was replaced by no less than THREE drummers before rejoining. I thought if was only one guy.

Some of the photos you've seen before, but many are new. I'm up to the YES ALBUM part, and it's been a great read, especially Chris' story about Jimi Hendrix!

The second half of the book is appendices, starting with a single page about future plans. Jon has *three* pending albums: the Khoroshev project, something called MILLENIUM CHILD and another project in the works.

This is followed by an extensive listing of tour dates (interestingly, the concert in Montreal in 1998 is missing :-) ), discography, set lists, and an extensive collectors section which contains lots of boots, for all you boot fans out there.

A great book. Really great. Put this one in the bathroom - you'll be spending lots of quality time between the covers.

Yescapade in Nottingham Canceled

From: Bob [relayerbob@progedge.com] - Oct. 29

Unfortunately, due to events and circumstances not within our control, we are forced to abandon the Yescapade event scheduled for Nottingham. We will plan on future events during Yes' future touring, so stay tuned here for that information.

As Yescapade is a not for profit endeavor the organizers have been prepared for some level of loss. However, projections based on current ticket sales indicate that we won't even come close to breaking even. We strongly suspect that the events going on in the world have adjusted people's priorities and even according to PollStar, ticket sales for all entertainment events are off significantly.

Therefore, we regretfully announce the cancellation of Yescapade GB.

Ticket purchase refunds will be arranged as quickly as possible. Anyone having ordered tickets should have already received information on your refunds.

On behalf of the entire Yescapade team, We would like to sincerely thank all of the folks who have supported this effort and hope to be able to organize other Yescapades in the future. With that in mind we have will put up a brief poll to gather some information which will be helpful to us in planning future events. Please come back to visit the Yescapade site when it is available, and take a few moments to answer the questions. Your input will be most appreciated.

Please watch in the next few weeks for the grand opening of Progressive Edge, your progressive music gathering place.

Peace,
Bob
