Jessica demonstrates what Buster has learned in the last seven months.

December 30, 2008

First Jessica lunges Buster to get the energy out and get his attention to work.

Well, he's had enough of that.

Jessica brings him over by the gate to put the surcingle on. Buster's always interested in what's in the bag.

Here's Buster doing his best imitation of a giraffe as Jesse puts the snaffle in his mouth.

Take two.

Success in getting the bit in.

He's tighter on his left lead, so this is the direction Jesse will work first.

Making some adjustments

He's still not very soft or giving but it's probably been about 10 minutes of this, so that's enough.

He's softer going to the right, but he's still not very happy about this whole deal.

And here's some resistance.

After this lunging, Jesse removes the surcincle and bit and rides him for a few minutes bareback in the round pen.
And this is as far as we got in his training since June. In a couple of days, Buster will learn what real work is all about.
