Champion Sire Ger Dark Ronald stood
at Tickford Park from 1910 to 1912 in Buckinghamshire at a fee
of £98. He was bred by Edward Kennedy, who later bred the
Tetrarch. It's a curious coincidence that in Dark Ronald's last
race, the 18F Doncaster Cup where he finished 3rd after breaking
down, the horse that finished just ahead of him in 2nd place
was none other than the Tetrarch's sire Roi Herode.

Bay H. 2nd: Fall H. 4th: Suburban H. Undefeated at 2, set a NTR
at Morris Park, 6f in 1:09.0 (Officially registered as "brown",
but black by all accounts.) Essentially a sprinter, he won 18
of 19 events over 8f or less (2nd the other time). Stood 15.3h.
Died July 29, 1897, age 6, from spinal meningitis. Inducted into
the Hall of Fame in 1955. By the end of his racing career, Domino
so hated his jockey, who was infamous for whipping a horse to
the point of raising welts, that he (Domino) had to be blindfolded
to allow the jockey to mount. Domino sired only 19 named foals
before his untimely death, yet his descendents have exerted a
tremendous influence. "the Black Whirlwind" was buried
at his birthplace, Dixiana Farm. His epitaph reads, "Here
lies the fleetest runner the American Turf has ever known, and
one of the gamest and most generous of horses."
